Registered Nurse - Med Surg (Travel)

- Frankfort, Kentucky

- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Hours per week: 36
Unit Information
- Unit: 4th Floor Med/Surg, 46 beds
- Patient ratio: 6:1
- Staffing includes Clinical Nurse Coordinators (charge nurse), RNs, LPNs, PCTs, Nurse Externs, Unit Clerks (staffing based on patient census)
- Equipment used: GE Apex Pro Telemetry box, Hoyer lift, Sara Steady, Baxter IV pumps, iMobile, Alaris PCA IV pump, Welch Allen Vitals machine, Glucometer
- Documentation system: Meditech Expanse
- Scheduling: Every other weekend, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Floating: May float to post-surgical med/surg unit or PCU for telemetry overflow
- Procedures performed: telemetry monitoring, paracentesis
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be renewed annually)

- Chest tubes, NG tubes, wound vac, drains
- Post-dialysis assessment skills
- Central line care
- Blood transfusions
