Registered Nurse – CVICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Rotating Day (06:45–19:15) and Night (18:45–07:15)
- Hours per week: 36 (3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Holiday Requirement: 1 holiday
- No on-call required
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Floating: May float to any Adult ICU or Telemetry unit if CVICU census is low, with appropriate assignment
- First-time travelers accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Proficiency with CRRT/CVVHD
- Proficiency with Hemodynamic Monitoring
- Proficiency with IABPs
- Proficiency with Impellas
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including PA PATCH search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
- Education Verification: Official transcript acceptable; diploma not accepted
- State-Specific:
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results within 12 months of start
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 2 months of start
- Fit test (3M 1870+ mask) within 12 months prior to start (must be completed before start)
- Current Tdap vaccine or titer
- Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or declination accepted
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 60 days prior to start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19: Vaccination no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask use at work
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years of start
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable unit
- Facility-Specific: Completion of assigned education modules (~6 hours) prior to orientation
Additional Notes
- No on-site fit testing available; must be completed prior to start
- Failure to pass dysrhythmia exam during orientation results in contract cancellation
- Modules assigned by education department and tracked by facility
- Background and fingerprinting results must be on file prior to start; candidates cannot start with pending results
This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with cardiac surgery and advanced hemodynamic monitoring skills seeking a travel contract in Pennsylvania.
