Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Two types of shifts alternating on a 6-week schedule:
    • (2) 12-hour shifts: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
    • (2) 8-hour shifts: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
  • Additional work requirements every 6 weeks:
    • (2) Weekend night shifts (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
    • Holiday call: 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
    • Work 1 summer and 1 winter holiday (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing)
  • Floating: May be required to float to GI unit or Center One Surgery Center
  • Charting system used: Cerner

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (Relias or CEdirect accepted)
  • Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation (one attempt only)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for Dysrhythmia Exam

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including:
    • SS Trace, Counties, Nationwide, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 1, Education Verification
    • Pennsylvania Statewide PATCH search (required for PA placements, must be uploaded separately)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check upon hire
  • HHS/OIG check upon hire
  • Education verification (official transcript acceptable; diploma not accepted)
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start
  • Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Results within 12 months of start (PA FBI fingerprinting required)
  • Work history verification as applicable

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 2 months of start (no annual update required)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (3M 1870+ model required; no on-site testing)
  • Current Tdap vaccine or titer
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days of start; chest X-ray if positive)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: series, titer, or declination accepted
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (9-panel without THC acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1–4/1)
  • COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; medical/religious exemptions accepted with masking requirements

References & Documentation

  • Two professional references within 2 years of start date
  • Facility-specific modules assigned and must be completed prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
  • Photo for badge required ASAP

Additional Notes

  • No first-time travelers accepted; prior travel experience is mandatory
  • Floating assignments may include GI and surgery center units
  • Must be able to work required weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
