Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Night Shift)
Location: Alton, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Emergency Room
- Shift: Nights (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:30 to 7:00)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (local radius rule: 75 miles)
- On-Call: Not required
- Start Date: Within 3-4 weeks based on compliance tier

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include a comprehensive panel and remain valid throughout assignment
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer, vaccination, or medical exemption required; no exemptions allowed for certain units (e.g., Neonatal ICU)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Fit Mask Testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually; facial hair must allow proper fit testing

- HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
- Confidentiality Form (annual)
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with minimum 80% score)
- Hepatitis B Declination (annual)
- TB Questionnaire (annual)
- Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
- Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
- Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
- Orientation Modules (approximately 16 hours, required for all RNs; must be completed prior to start)
- Badge Photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days
- Government-issued ID required (driver’s license for home health positions)
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded for facility review
- Fingerprinting required for assignments at or able to float to long-term care or rehab units in Illinois
- Missouri-specific background checks and certifications apply only if working in Missouri (not applicable here)
This position offers a structured night shift schedule in an acute care emergency room setting with comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements to ensure patient safety and quality care.
