Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical / Telemetry

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (Evening/Night Shift)
Schedule: Every Other Half (EOH) / Every Other Week (EOW)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in medical, surgical, and telemetry settings.
• Work primarily on a 12.5-hour night shift schedule.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa
• Minimum of 1 year telemetry experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Oncology nursing experience

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

Health & Immunizations

• Fit test.
• 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
• COVID-19 vaccine proof including booster or approved declination/exemption (not accepted in CA or IL).
• MMR: Proof of 2 vaccinations or IgG titer.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
• Influenza vaccine proof or declination (optional).
• 2-step PPD or IGRA test; chest x-ray if positive TB as per regional requirements.
• Varicella vaccination or IgG titer.
• Tdap vaccine or declination if no pediatric interaction.
• Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work within the last year.
• Color vision test.

Professional & Background Checks

• Criminal background check (federal, nationwide, county) covering last 7 years, including SSN verification.
• Education verification (highest academic degree or diploma/GED).
• Employment and licensing sanctions checks (EPLS, OIG, OFAC).
• Child and adult dependent abuse registry check (Iowa only).
• Conflict of interest disclosure form.
• Code of conduct form.
• Confidentiality and information security agreement.
• Integrity and audit services form.
• Non-employee upload form.
• System access form (to be completed one week before start).
• Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.
• National Sex Offender Registry check.
• State-specific criminal and abuse registry checks as applicable.

Documentation

• Resume and skills checklist within the last year.
• Two professional references.
• Specialty exam documentation.
• Skills checklist provided by agency for clinical contractors.

Additional Notes

• All licenses and certifications must be verified and dated within 30 days of assignment start.
• Scanned copies of certifications must include front and back images.
• Drug screen results must be completed and resulted before start with Medical Review Officer (MRO) signature.
• Declinations for vaccines require agency letterhead.
• Some requirements are state-specific (e.g., California license hard copy, Iowa abuse registry).

This position is suitable for experienced RNs with certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS, prepared to work night shifts in a medical/surgical telemetry environment under a long-term contract.
