Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Lubbock, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM), total 36 hours per week
  • Schedule: Block weekends required
  • Float: No floating between units
  • On-call: Not required
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Special Requirements: Weekend RN must have experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, General Surgery, XI/DV5 Robot, and Trauma
  • Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center
  • Uniform: Solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs for licensed nursing personnel; print tops not allowed except in specific units

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
  • Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Trauma
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
  • Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel candidates, updated annually
  • Immunizations and screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer or signed declination
    • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or signed declination
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer or signed declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
    • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection prevention measures
  • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)

Background and Compliance

  • Background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
  • Education verification required for nursing degree (international education requires diploma/transcript)
  • NURSYS license verification required for all RNs
  • State-specific searches and attestations as applicable (e.g., Washington multi-state license attestation if applicable)
  • References and work history verification as required

Additional Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge (neutral background, JPEG format) required prior to start
  • Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
  • Float policy acknowledgment: Candidate may be required to float to another facility within reasonable distance
  • Epic training modules may be required depending on facility assignment

Notes

  • Weekend block schedule with 12-hour shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • No 48-hour shifts approved
  • Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
