Description

Registered Nurse – Medical Telemetry

Location

  • Portland, Maine

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Weekend shifts only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
  • Day and night shifts on weekends
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per weekend (total 48 hours per week)

Unit Information

  • Unit: Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC)
  • Number of beds: 43
  • Patient ratios:
    • Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
    • Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
    • IMC Day and Night: 1:3
  • Patient types include respiratory, medical telemetry, surgical, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
  • Equipment used: ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, tracheostomy care and maintenance
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Epic

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care on Medical Telemetry and IMC units
  • Float between IMC units and med/surg units as needed based on skill and unit needs
  • Interpret telemetry strips and manage tracheostomies
  • Care for patients requiring ventilator and respiratory support

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maine
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • Experience with ventilators
  • Experience with tracheostomy care

  • Dress code prohibits unprofessional clothing and shirts with non-hospital logos
