Registered Nurse – Medical Telemetry

Location

Portland, Maine

Employment Type

Travel contract
Contract length: 13 weeks

Schedule

Weekend shifts only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Day and night shifts on weekends
Guaranteed 36 hours per weekend (total 48 hours per week)

Unit Information

Unit: Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC)
Number of beds: 43
Patient ratios:
- Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
- Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
- IMC Day and Night: 1:3
Patient types include respiratory, medical telemetry, surgical, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
Equipment used: ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, tracheostomy care and maintenance
Electronic Medical Record system: Epic

Job Responsibilities

Provide nursing care on Medical Telemetry and IMC units
Float between IMC units and med/surg units as needed based on skill and unit needs
Interpret telemetry strips and manage tracheostomies
Care for patients requiring ventilator and respiratory support

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Maine
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
BLS certification
Experience with ventilators
Experience with tracheostomy care

Additional Information

No call requirements
Emphasis on teamwork, flexibility, good communication, and patient-centered care
Dress code prohibits unprofessional clothing and shirts with non-hospital logos
