Description
Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery
Location
- Farmington, New Mexico
- Community hospital setting in the San Juan River Valley region
Employment Type
- Travel contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Population
- Labor and Delivery unit with 17 beds and 2 triage rooms
- Patient population: Adults and newborns
- Approximately 75 deliveries per month
- Patient ratios follow AWHONN standards
- Equipment includes fetal monitors, ISTAT, and Freestyle
- Electronic Health Records: Cerner and Fetalink
Schedule
- Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Weekend hours vary
- No call requirements
- No float requirements
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- At least 2 years of experience performing cervical exams
- Experience working with infant patients
- Experience in an acute care setting
- Experience in charge nurse roles
- Postpartum care experience
- Nursery experience
- Certifications:
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- AWHONN certification
Preferred Skills
- Fetal monitoring
- Stabilization of neonates
- Troubleshooting high acuity situations
- Strong triage assessment skills
Work Environment
- Level III trauma center
- Not a teaching hospital; minimal supervision expected
- Provides medical, surgical, rehabilitation, childbirth, cancer, nephrology, pediatric, behavioral health, day surgery, imaging, and lab services
- Regional mission serving Four Corners area (NM, AZ, CO, UT)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be able to start within 10 business days of offer acceptance for rapid placement
- Must perform duties consistent with standard of care and industry standards with minimal supervision
- Local housing options available
