Job Opportunity: MRI Tech

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Schedule:
    • 3 shifts per week (Friday to Sunday)
    • 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
    • Fridays: Mobile MRI Tech until 5 PM, then Main MRI Tech from 5 PM to end of shift
    • Saturdays and Sundays: Main MRI Tech
    • Holiday work required if it falls on scheduled shift
  • On-call: No

Required Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Certification: ARRT (MR)
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Siemens MRI equipment

Licensure

  • No South Carolina Radiology license required for MRI Techs
  • Must provide primary source verification showing active, unencumbered certification/license with no pending actions
  • Background checks and education verifications required as per facility standards

Certifications & Competencies

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Color Blind Testing required prior to start
  • Competency exams required as applicable
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (confirm with recruiter)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
  • Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination series)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season

Additional Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Radiation badge required for all Radiology/Cardiology travelers except MRI Techs (MRI Techs are exempt)
  • Copy of driver’s license and social security card required
  • Background checks including criminal, sex offender registry, and employment verification for last 3 clinical employers
  • Facility-specific orientation modules and training must be completed prior to start
  • Passport-style badge photo required before start

  • Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
  • Total staffed beds: 865
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Parking available with nominal cost for nights and weekends
  • Emergency response team participation required (hurricane season June-November)

  • Radius rule: 60 miles
  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly preferred but not required; declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
