Description
Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Every other weekend (at least every other, more if available)
- Holidays: As needed
- Float: Required; all travelers may float between multiple campuses
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Unit Size: 18 beds
- Average Daily Census: 75
- Unit Type: General Emergency Department (combined Adult and Pediatric ED)
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Successful completion of EKG/Dysrhythmia exam
- Management and interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Phlebotomy skills
Licensure
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
- Background Check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including:
- Social Security Trace with all aliases
- National Criminal Search
- Federal Court and Sex Offender Search
- Education Verification
- International background checks if applicable
- Education Verification by a 3rd party for nursing degree (Associate’s degree or higher required)
- Transcript/Diploma copy may be required if education was obtained outside the U.S. (foreign equivalency evaluation allowed within 30 days after start)
- Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
- Verification of all employment within last 5 years through a third party
- Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
- Annual Skills Checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test (annual, approved N95 respirators only)
- Adult Tdap vaccine proof required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months of start
- TB Questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Titer or declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/22/2025 – 2/27/2026)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Pass/Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
- Candidate must review and sign floating policy (mandatory for all agency staff)
- Badge photo submission required prior to clearance (strict photo guidelines apply)
- Completion of Health History Form including any physician-mandated work restrictions
- Completion and annual update of affiliate packet
- Completion of EPIC test (2 attempts allowed, 80%+ to pass; additional attempts require manager approval)
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival
- Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
- Compliance deadline is 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date
- Candidates must be aware they are being submitted for this position and have reviewed the job description
- All travelers are subject to float between campuses
This position offers a challenging and dynamic environment in a busy Emergency Department with a focus on critical care skills, dysrhythmia management, and pediatric and adult emergency nursing.
