    Description

    Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

    Location: Seattle, Washington
    Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
    Hours per Week: 36 hours
    Contract Length: 13 weeks


    Job Description

    • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
    • Most patients are receiving chemotherapy and many are neutropenic
    • Common unexpected admissions for neutropenic fevers
    • Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
    • Weekend work required unless otherwise posted
    • Block scheduling generally not accommodated
    • Locals accepted; pending licenses not accepted
    • RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: maximum 1 week

    Required Experience & Skills

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
    • Minimum 2 years oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Chemotherapy symptom management experience
    • Blood product administration experience
    • Experience with central lines and non-tunneled ports

    Required Certifications & Licenses

    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association

    Compliance & Background Checks

    • 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start
    • Must run checks on current and former legal names and known aliases
    • Education verification required (diploma/transcript acceptable for RNs)
    • Sex offender search and state-specific background checks required
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required

    Health & Safety Requirements

    • Physical exam signed by a physician within 1 year of start (required by agency)
    • Fit mask test required within 9-12 months of start (3M N95 masks preferred)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or documented declination
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility guidelines
    • Required immunizations or titers for:
      • Rubeola (Measles)
      • Mumps
      • Rubella
      • Hepatitis B (documentation of vaccination series and titer or declination)
      • Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical exemption/declination with education module completion
    • COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking

    Additional Facility Requirements

    • EPIC electronic health record system used for charting
    • Magnet and teaching hospital environment
    • Scrubs: any color allowed; scrubs provided for OR personnel
    • Parking fee applies (approx. $10 daily)

    Orientation & Onboarding

    • Candidates must watch EPIC/Alaris infusion pump integration video and complete attestation
    • Photo (DMV style) required for badge, due Monday prior to start
    • Various facility-specific agreements and checklists must be completed prior to start
    • WA multi-state licensed nurses must complete suicide prevention training and demographic attestation if applicable

    Notes

    • Performance evaluation requested at end of assignment (Montlake location only)
    • Radiation badges no longer provided by agency for new candidates; must be supplied by facility if needed

    This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with chemotherapy expertise seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital setting. Weekend availability and flexibility within the hospital are required.
