Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Sidney, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Schedule includes rotating weekends and holidays
- Preference for candidates with Epic electronic health record experience
- Position involves care in Labor & Delivery and Post-Partum for mother and baby
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Post-Partum experience
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated with contract renewals
- Fingerprinting:
- Ohio BCI fingerprinting required within 6 months of start
- Candidate can start with fingerprint results pending if background check is on file
- Fingerprints do not require annual updates
- Education verification upon request
- Nursys verification for RN license required
- Drug screening:
- Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30 days to 1 year of start
- Physical exam within last 12 months
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years or facility-specific declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with specific protocols for positive results)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or facility declination
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, 3-dose vaccine series, or declination with signed forms
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, history of chickenpox, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (preferred but not required)
- Respirator clearance questionnaire if respirator use is required (not needed if no patient interaction)
Orientation and Competency
- Completion of New Employee Orientation (NEO) module prior to orientation (approx. 1-2 hours)
- Unit-specific competency exams required and must be updated annually
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Pass/fail testing on EKG and medication administration during orientation (2 attempts allowed)
References and Evaluations
- Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Performance evaluations required if previously employed with the organization for over 1 year
- Internal evaluations required if employed over 2 years
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates are acceptable
- Facility provides radiation badges for applicable units (no action required by candidate)
