Registered Nurse – Emergency Room

Location: Livingston, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Patient Care Details

• ER with 19 beds including 3 trauma bays
• No fast track area
• Separate triage area available; travelers may perform triage if qualified (not required)
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER and managed by ER RNs
• 2 rooms easily converted for psychiatric/seclusion use
• In-house security present
• Average patient volume: 70-95 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4:1
• Common patient diagnoses: Cardiac, GI, Psychiatric, COPD, respiratory illnesses
• Emergency Department team includes 1 ED physician and 2 mid-level providers
• Charge nurse supervises the unit
• Support staff includes techs (nurse aides/paramedics/patient sitters)
• EMR system: Paragon
• Respiratory therapy provides ABGs and breathing treatments (vents, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow)
• Telemetry monitoring present; RNs interpret strips (no monitor techs)
• Portable X-ray and CT available nearby; radiology techs handle transport
• Both phlebotomy and nurse blood draws performed on unit

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Shifts: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Holiday coverage on A & B rotation
• No call or standby requirement
• No floating required
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Texas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
• Experience in Charge nurse roles
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
