Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Observation Unit

Location: Tucson, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (typically 3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Shift Times: Varying day shifts (examples: 6:00 AM–6:30 PM, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM, 8:00 AM–8:30 PM)
Call Requirements:

  • Rotational call approximately once every 4 to 6 weeks
  • Includes Saturdays (7:00 AM–5:00 PM) and Sundays (7:00 AM–2:00 PM)

Job Description

  • Provide nursing care for patients in the Cardiac Observation Unit, focusing on pre- and post-procedure care for Cath Lab patients.
  • Evaluate, plan, implement, and document nursing care.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Perform bedside procedures such as Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) and Cardioversions (CV), including sedation, circulation, and documentation.
  • Admit and prep patients for cardiac catheterization and cardioversion procedures, including IV starts and access preparation.
  • Recover patients following conscious sedation.
  • Discharge patients with appropriate teaching and documentation.
  • Work with high-risk, high-acuity patients in a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cardiac PCU (Progressive Care Unit), with at least 1 year of recent experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Electrophysiology Lab
