Certified Surgical Technologist

Location: Northampton, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Call Requirements:

• 1 weekday per week from 5:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• 1 weekend day per month, 7:00 AM to 7:00 AM
• Additional call may be required

Job Description

• Responsible for planning, preparing, and maintaining surgical instrumentation and the surgical field during peri-operative procedures.
• Performs post-operative activities related to room and instrument decontamination.
• Works under established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited surgical technology program
• Certification in Surgical Technology (NBSTSA or NCCT)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with general surgery, orthopedic, and gynecological procedures preferred

Required Credentials and Compliance

• Recent professional color photo (taken within last 6 months, plain background, no headwear or eyeglasses)
• Primary source verification of professional license/certification (no conditional licenses accepted)
• N95 respirator fit test within 365 days prior to start date, updated annually (no onsite fit testing)
• Respirator Medical Clearance attestation if fit test required
• Documentation of MMR vaccination or immunity proof
• TB screening within 3 months prior to start date, updated if break >6 months (skin test or blood test)
• Health statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
• Criminal background check including Massachusetts CORI within 45 days prior to start date, updated if break >6 months
• Verification of highest education level achieved
• Social Security Number trace covering last 7 years of residence, work, and education
• National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
• Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days prior to start date, updated annually
• Submission of 7 years of work experience and education history including city and state
• Two professional references within last 4 years (minimum one supervisor or above in skillset)
• Skills checklist completed within 1 year of submission
• Candidate submission coversheet required for initial assignment and new facility submissions
• Confirmation of assignment form required for all initial assignments and extensions

Additional Notes

• If positive TB test, documentation of a negative chest x-ray is required
• Name change documentation required if credentials do not match current legal name
• All credential and compliance documents must be current and uploaded as required prior to onboarding

This position requires a Certified Surgical Technologist with solid peri-operative experience, readiness for call duties, and full compliance with credentialing and health requirements.
