Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – ICU (MICU/Neuro ICU)
Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7pm–7am)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Unit Details
- ICU units: Medical ICU (28 beds), Neuro ICU (20 beds)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1
- Nurse aide ratio: 10:1
- Common patient diagnoses: COVID-19, ARDS, GI bleed, sepsis, acute renal failure, stroke, dialysis, head bleeds, ventriculostomy/EVD
- Hospitalist/Intensivist coverage: Fellow present on Neuro ICU (not attending)
- Respiratory Therapist coverage: 24/7 with ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP equipment available
- Telemetry monitoring: Yes, monitored remotely from another floor; RNs do not read strips on unit
- Charge nurse: Free charge nurse available, not included in staffing
Required Certifications & Skills
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Ability to titrate intravenous drips including Levophed, phenylephrine, versed, paralytics, heparin, insulin
- Valid driver’s license
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Preference scheduling available; adjustments made based on unit needs
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts plus 2 Fridays every 4-week schedule (Saturday/Sunday count as weekend)
- Holiday requirement: Every other holiday (for Neuro ICU, holiday coverage is the day prior)
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating: Rotational basis to any ICU or step-down unit
Orientation & Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation: A few shifts including 12-hour nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Scrub color: Royal blue
Additional Requirements
- Fully COVID-19 vaccinated (2 Moderna/Pfizer shots or 1 J&J shot) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Must provide an unexpired driver’s license with an address outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
- Previous permanent candidates must have been off for 2 years before reapplying
- Previous travelers must have been off for 2 years after completing 1 full year at this facility
