Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Respiratory Therapy

Location: Blacksburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36 (3 shifts of 12 hours, every other weekend)


Unit and Facility Overview

  • Unit: Respiratory Therapy
  • Number of Beds: 76 total (10 ICU, 30 CMU, 36 Medical-Surgical) plus Emergency Department
  • Equipment Used: PB840s and 980s ventilators, Phillips V60s, Hamilton c-1 ventilators
  • Documentation System: MEDITECH
  • Certifications of Facility: Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Ready, Magnet Designation, Chest Pain Center
  • Work Environment: Highly engaged staff and management, flexible scheduling, positive facility culture
  • Location Highlights: Outdoor activities available in the Blue Ridge Mountains; home to Virginia Tech University
  • Recognition: One of the highest engagement scores in the facility as of May 2024

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification

Schedule and Dress Code

  • Schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, every other weekend required
  • Dress Code: No specific color requirements for scrubs

  • Unit policies and guidelines available upon request
  • Procedures performed and advanced skills required are aligned with core respiratory therapy practice on the unit
