Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health (Dementia Specialty)

Location: Athens, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care for geriatric patients (50+) with dementia and behavioral disturbances.
• Work in a 24-bed behavioral health unit focused on geriatric care.
• Patient ratio is approximately 1 nurse to 7 patients.
• No call requirements.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 (including 24 weekend hours).
• No float requirements.
• Electronic Health Record system used: Medhost.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
• Minimum 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Healthcare Worker Certification (HWC) or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
• Must be cleared through the Tennessee Abuse Registry before assignment start.

Skills and Experience

• Experience working with dementia patients, especially those with behavioral disturbances.
• Calm demeanor and ability to work well with others.

Work Environment and Dress Code

• Facility provides emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services with a focus on behavioral health and geriatric care.
• Scrub color: solid colors only.
• Facial piercings are not allowed.

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly on Mondays.
• Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff.
