Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
- Schedule: Every 3rd weekend, holidays as needed, floating as needed (may float to Emergency Transitional Care Unit - ETCU)
- Unit Description:
- Emergency Department (ED) is a 74-bed Level 1 Trauma Center with a 3-bed trauma bay and secure behavioral health unit.
- ETCU is a 22-bed telemetry-capable expansion unit for patients awaiting further testing, consultation, or inpatient beds.
- Med/Surg nurses may provide inpatient-level care in ETCU and cross-train for ED tasks.
- Patient Population: May include COVID-19 patients.
- Facility Environment: Tobacco and fragrance-free.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Trauma experience
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search (must be finalized prior to start).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- PA FBI Fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must have results on file within 45 days.
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
- Fit mask testing within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations or positive titers required for:
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series or positive titer)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (vaccines or positive titers)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days; PPD not accepted.
- Flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccine, medical/religious exemption, or declination accepted.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year (Aya requirement only).
- References: Two professional references within 3 years of start.
- Employment Application: Most recent resume/application required.
- Skills Checklist: Annual requirement.
Competency and Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail) required within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required within 48 hours of contract signing.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge.
- Completion and signing of facility-specific documents including:
- Medical Statement Non-Employee Ability to Work
- Commitment to Health & Wellness
- Code of Conduct
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Non-Employee Affidavit
- Completion of Learning Management System (LMS) modules on PC/laptop prior to start (not accessible via cell phone).
- New Hire Orientation must be completed by end of first day.

- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days.

This position requires a highly experienced ER Registered Nurse with trauma experience and prior travel assignments, able to work night shifts with flexibility for floating and weekend coverage in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
