Description
Registered Nurse (Med Surg Telemetry) - Travel Position
Location: Cortez, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Summary
Provide nursing care to patients in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner on a Med Surg Telemetry unit. Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to patient age groups served, including telemetry monitoring and basic arrhythmia interpretation. Collaborate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Supervise non-professional staff and assist physicians with patient care and procedures.
Unit-Specific Duties
- Intensive Care Unit (ICU) care including critical drips, ventilator/BiPAP management, CVP and A-line monitoring
- Family Birthing Center (FBC) duties including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum care, fetal monitoring, newborn care, and trauma alert response
- Procedural sedation and rapid sequence intubation
- Use of rapid infuser, epidural management, hearing screening, infant security, EMTALA compliance, CCHD screening, and phototherapy
- Care for pre-term infants and newborns from delivery to discharge
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year

- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Knowledge of nursing standards, policies, and procedures
- Ability to supervise and support less experienced staff

- Flexibility with work hours and shifts to meet staffing needs
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional foul odors
- Moderate to loud noise levels; possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors
- Potential exposure to environmental elements such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions
- Requires good vision (including color vision) and hearing abilities
