Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical / Telemetry)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:12 using a team nursing model (shared with 2 RNs, LPN, med nurse, and virtual nurse)
- On-Call: As needed
- Weekend Requirement: As needed (no weekend block scheduling, but weekend blocks may be considered)
- First-time travelers: Not accepted
- Local candidates: Not accepted (100-mile radius rule)
- Pending license: Not accepted; must comply with Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) guidelines
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: All RTO must be included at submission; late submissions will not be approved
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- One completed travel nursing assignment
- Current certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Level I Trauma patients
- Experience in a large hospital setting
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Two forms of government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license, social security card, passport)
- Background check within 60 days of start, including statewide, county, federal, and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
- Education verification (diploma/transcript not accepted in lieu)
- Sex offender search and Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry search (TN only)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (no pending or instant tests accepted)
- Fit test for 3M N-95 masks within 1 year of start (must pass without limitations)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive antibody titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Varicella: Proof of 2 vaccines or positive antibody titer with boosters if low/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Copy of 3-shot series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Tdap: Required only for candidates working in pediatric facilities
- TB testing: True 2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year; if positive, negative chest x-ray within 2 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 30); exemptions require mask-wearing in patient areas and may delay start date
- Two recent professional references required
- Skills checklist and internal evaluation required annually or after one year with agency
Additional Notes
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs; no prints or embroidered scrubs allowed
- Photo badge required prior to start with strict guidelines (passport-style photo, no hats, no glasses glare, no filters, no facial piercings)
- EPIC questionnaire required for RNs; candidates with EPIC experience may test out of training
- Confidentiality acknowledgment must be signed before start
- Onsite fit test and submission packet required prior to start
- No submission to multiple job IDs/facilities allowed; candidates submitted to multiple will be removed
