Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work in a very large, busy Emergency Department (Non-Trauma) with high acuity patients.
  • Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics.
  • Stroke and STEMI certified unit.
  • Unit size: 59 beds, averaging 165-175 patients per day.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4.
  • Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
  • Electronic medical record system: Epic (required).
  • Medication dispensing system: Pyxis.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
  • Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
  • Floating: Rare, only within facility and scope of practice.
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it.
    • If 2 major holidays fall, expected to work both.
    • If 3 major holidays fall, expected to work 2 of them.
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time or assignment start may be delayed by 2 weeks.
  • Locals accepted at the same rate.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current certifications prior to start:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.

Additional Information

  • Return to Office blackout dates: Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
  • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
  • Candidate clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final manager approval.
  • Candidate must review and sign facility code of conduct and dress/professional appearance policies prior to start.
