Description
Registered Nurse – Med Surg GCU
Location
- Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Details
- Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (06:00–18:30 or 18:00–06:30)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Usually applicable May–Sept and Nov–Jan; no more than 1 holiday off allowed during contract
- Floating: First to float to PCU for a Med-Surg Unit assignment unless telemetry trained
- Patient Ratios: Maximum 1:6; Day shift Monday–Friday typically 1:5
- Orientation: Bi-weekly sessions
Unit & Patient Population
- Med-Surg General Care Unit including general, orthopedic, neuro, and spine patients
- 23-bed unit
Required Certifications & Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS (AHA or ARC)
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Experience or demonstrated skills in Med-Surg nursing
Additional Information
- Up to 2 extra mandatory shifts every 6 weeks
- Location highlights: Known as the Sandhill Crane capital of the world (Feb–early April), with local cultural and historical attractions nearby
