Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery) with Mother/Baby experience
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
  • Patient ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Option to flex to a 4th shift if needed (overtime available after 48 hours)
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Required Certifications and Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • Background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Education verification of highest degree/diploma
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated every contract renewal
  • NURSYS verification (for all RNs) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; chest X-ray required if past positive TB
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
      Declinations accepted with appropriate documentation; incomplete series must be started prior to start date
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required October 1 – April 1 (or approved exemption)
  • Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Completed employment application/resume
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit

Additional Notes

  • Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the agency for over 1 year
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement and competency exams required as applicable
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required with passing score
  • Must include current NURSYS report and agency cover sheet with application
