MRI Technologist - Contract Position

Location: New York, NY

Contract Length: 9 weeks

Job Summary

Operate and prepare specialized MRI equipment to perform magnetic imaging procedures. Use technical judgment to obtain diagnostic-quality studies according to protocols and patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MRI imaging procedures and position patients and coils for optimal imaging.
• Educate patients about the procedure, including the area to be imaged and any specific instructions.
• Review patient safety questionnaires before introducing patients into the MRI scan room.
• Ensure MRI images are properly labeled and technically acceptable; transmit images to PACS promptly.
• Complete all studies in the Radiology Information System (IDX) in a timely manner.
• Maintain cleanliness of radiology room and equipment at the start and end of shifts.
• Manage supplies and accessories needed for safe operation.
• Record patient tracking information accurately in IDX.
• Schedule exams as required.
• Report equipment repairs or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
• Assist physicians directly as needed.
• Call for in-patients as required.
• Perform related clerical duties when support personnel are absent.
• Adhere strictly to safety guidelines to prevent ferromagnetic material introduction into the scan room.
• Follow infection control policies to protect self, patients, and staff.
• Attend in-services and professional development meetings as required.
• Maintain licensure in good standing according to Public Health Code.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
• Approximately 7 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Valid MRI Technologist license in New York
• Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
• ARRT Certified with MRI certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• IV certification
• Strong background in MR physics
• Excellent technical skills
