Nuclear Medicine Technologist

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Job Overview

• Perform quality diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures under supervision to ensure accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment.
• Participate in teaching and research related to nuclear medicine.
• Utilize departmental resources efficiently to ensure timely and accurate exams with minimal risk and cost to patients.
• Address age-specific needs of patients served.
• Work includes both in-department and mobile nuclear medicine services.
• PET/CT attenuation correction duties included (not diagnostic).

Required Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nuclear medicine program.
• Current certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or The American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
• Active AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of computers interfaced with gamma cameras.
• Knowledge of radioactive materials, doses, and flood sources.
• Experience with patient monitoring and ancillary patient and radiation safety equipment.
• Ability to safely handle radioactive materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior clinical experience.
• Ability to effectively handle patients and families across all age groups.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with nuclear medicine gamma cameras, both stationary and portable, from various manufacturers.

Additional Information

• Orientation includes 12 hours of non-billable training.
• Call-off allowance: up to 36 hours every 13 weeks.
• Candidates must be willing to work both in the department and mobile settings.
• Local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.
• Work schedule is Monday to Friday with variable start times based on preferences and staffing.
• No state licensure required for Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Nebraska; certification by a national organization is mandatory.
