Description
Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
- Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility and department needs
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted if they have ER experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Completed and accurate I-9 form with E-Verify attestation
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace
- Statewide and national criminal checks
- Sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- OFAC Sanctions List search prior to start
- South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search (for sub vendors)
- NURSYS license verification (primary source verification required)
- Primary source verification of active, unencumbered license with no pending actions
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Employment history verification of last 3 clinical employers
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if previously positive
- Annual TB questionnaire completion
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (4 to 6 hours) prior to start
- First Day Instructions (FDI) provided after clearance
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system prior to start
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required
- Color blindness testing required prior to start
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
