Description
Registered Nurse (RN) – MedSurg/Telemetry (4th Floor)
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Unit Details
- Unit Type: Telemetry, Surgical/Neuro (4th Floor, two units: 4A and 4B)
- Number of Beds: 48
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
- Telemetry Monitoring: Telemetry monitored remotely; Telemetry techs on 3rd floor read and post strips
- RN Role: Required to interpret telemetry strips and sign at least once per shift
- Common Patient Diagnoses: COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal, diabetes, TIA, CVA, general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients
- Respiratory Equipment Used: BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments
- Drip Management: No RN titration of drips; Diltiazem given at a set rate
Scheduling & Work Requirements
- Schedule: Self-scheduling for 4 weeks, finalized by manager
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and 1 evening or 2 evenings and 1 day during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day
- Call/Standby: None
- Floating: May float to East Campus and possibly Progressive Care Unit (PCU) if qualified
Orientation & Training
- Unit-Specific Orientation: 1 shift on the unit
- Recommended Experience: Some experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients, CVA, and TIA
- Telemetry Skills: Ability to read basic telemetry strips required
- Electronic Health Record: Cerner experience recommended due to limited orientation time
Required Certifications & Qualifications
- Current RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification
Additional Information
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both roles exist; charge nurse does not take patient assignments
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs
