    Description

    Registered Nurse - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)

    Location: Spokane, Washington
    Employment Type: Travel/Contract
    Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
    Contract Length: 9 weeks


    Job Details

    • Position may float between units.
    • No on-call required.
    • Weekend shifts required, but variable schedule.
    • No block schedules required.
    • Patient ratios expected: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3.
    • Coverage needed only through the end of September.
    • 48-hour shifts approved.
    • Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Level II Trauma Center, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.
    • Total staffed beds: 629.
    • Teaching hospital.
    • Charting system: Epic.
    • Free parking available.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington state.
    • Minimum of 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience within the last year.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

    Health and Safety Requirements

    • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation.
    • Fit mask test required for travel candidates, valid within 1 year, updated annually.
    • Immunizations and screenings required:
      • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted).
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
      • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer, or signed declination.
      • Hepatitis B: Documentation of vaccination series or signed declination.
      • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer, or signed declination.
      • Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination.
      • COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to infection prevention measures.
    • Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.

    Compliance and Documentation

    • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
    • Social Security Card (as applicable for I9 and state requirements).
    • E-Verify attestation required.
    • Education verification required for nursing degree; international education requires diploma/transcript or CES report.
    • NURSYS license verification required for all RNs.
    • Background checks include EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches as required by Washington state law.
    • Annual completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
    • Photo for badge with neutral background required.
    • Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates.

    Additional Notes

    • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
    • Reduced orientation: 0 hours non-billable orientation compared to standard 40 hours.
    • Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other nearby facilities.
    • No on-call duties.
    • Weekend shifts are variable but required.
