Description
Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work weekends and rotating holidays.
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed.
- Must float to different units within the organization as required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience.
- MedSurg experience.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12) – no exemptions if working with infants or pregnant patients.
- 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, and Rubella.
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (signed declination acceptable).
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemptions require documentation.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31). Decliners must wear a mask.
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending results allowed).
- Fit mask testing: Required annually for inpatient/patient-facing RNs; must have valid fit test for assignment duration or complete onsite testing during first week.
Additional Requirements
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment annually.
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending fingerprint attestations accepted under specific conditions.
- Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing.
- License verification within 30 days of start.
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
- Ethics and Compliance policies must be reviewed and signed annually.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
Work Environment and Other Details
- Parking options available with varying costs and shuttle services.
- Night shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours).
- Floating to different units may be required based on organizational needs.
This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs with strong telemetry and EPIC skills seeking a travel nursing opportunity on night shifts in Ohio.
