Description
Cath Lab Tech – Travel/Contract
Location: San Francisco, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide technical support to cardiologists, radiologists, and registered nurses during Interventional Cath Lab procedures.
- Perform technical analysis and assist in execution of procedures under Cardiologist supervision.
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor patients attentively, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure patient privacy and safety.
- May mentor and train students.
Shift Details
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (40 hours/week)
- Start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
- Rotating nights and weekend call required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
- Minimum 2 years of Interventional Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and FACIS Level 3 screening within 2 weeks of start. Monthly FACIS updates required thereafter.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids per California law).
- Employment application must include full 7 years of work history with no gaps; employment verification required for up to 7 years.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years required for clinical/allied acute care candidates.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including clearance for work and any work restrictions documented.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, renewed annually; PAPR training required if fit test fails (religious exemptions considered case-by-case).
- TB screening: Negative QGold or TSPOT within 90 days of start or 2-step PPD testing; renewed annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series or declination)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination with mask requirement in patient care areas.
- Color vision exam by licensed healthcare provider prior to start (in-person only).
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually (not required for some lab/pharmacy roles).
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required.
- Onsite EKG exam required post-start for ICU and MS/Telemetry RNs (may apply if cross-trained).
