Job Opportunity: Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Edmonds, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Outpatient Radiation Oncology Registered Nurse role
- Schedule options:
- 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM or 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM)
- 4 days a week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
- No weekends, no call, no floating required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 3 years of oncology nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation)
- Other certifications may be required based on clinical track but not specified here
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification)
- WA State Patrol Search required within 90 days of start, updated every 2 years for certain facility types
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with explanations for gaps or overlaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, indicating ability to work with or without accommodation
- Fit mask test (respirator clearance) required for travel nurses, updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations or proof of immunity required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years; declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
- Hepatitis B: vaccination series or signed declination; positive titer with vaccination also accepted
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations not required but unvaccinated must follow masking policies
Training & Onboarding
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS required
- Epic training modules must be completed within a week of orientation; transcripts required
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency as applicable
Additional Notes
- Radiation badges issued by facility as applicable
- Float policy acknowledgment required; may be asked to float to nearby facilities
- WA Multi-State Licensed Nurses must complete demographic attestation prior to start
- Physical and health document requirements vary for onsite vs. remote roles (this role is onsite)
This position is ideal for experienced oncology RNs with prior travel experience seeking a structured day-shift schedule without weekends or call.
