Job Opportunity: SICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (SICU)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
  • Hours per Week: 36 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • Floating: May float to other ICU units within scope as needed
  • Schedule Flexibility: Open to block schedule requests (discuss with manager)
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Minimum 1 year of Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent
  • Fit mask test required (3M 1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity (or signed declination) required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
  • 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 30

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Valid US Driver’s License or State ID required
  • Photo for badge (color, plain background) due within one week of contract signing
  • Completion of computer-based learning modules before orientation (deadline strictly enforced)
  • Signed Code of Conduct and parking permit form (if applicable) required within 7 days of contract signing

Additional Notes

  • Guaranteed hours policy allows client to cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
  • Candidates may be placed on-call in lieu of canceled shifts, which counts as a called-off shift
  • Facility accommodates latex allergies

This position is ideal for experienced SICU RNs with at least one year of critical care experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within ICU units. Prior travel experience is not required, but first-time travelers will not be considered.
