Job Details

• Location: Greenville, Ohio (Rural community hospital, approximately 2 hours from Indianapolis and Columbus)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (5 eight-hour shifts)
• Call Rotation: Yes
• Opportunity: Open to longer contracts

Job Description

• Provide comprehensive patient care in the operating room including prepping, draping, positioning, and moving patients.
• Set up and maintain sterile fields.
• Assist with surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Share responsibility with the registered nurse for accurate counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and sharps.
• Identify and label medications used during surgery accurately.
• Handle surgical specimens properly.
• Assist the surgical team with room turnover and preparation for procedures.
• Ensure correct implants and prostheses are used for each procedure.
• Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the timeout procedure.
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
• Participate in training programs to learn new OR functions and services.
• Experience with orthopedic cases, especially total joint replacements, is required.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) via HSPA
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA Verification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA)

Experience

• Orthopedic experience required, particularly with total joint replacements.

Additional Information

• Work schedule includes 5 eight-hour shifts.
• Call rotation is part of the position.
