Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) – Surgical Services
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position requires independent scrubbing for liver recipient transplants.
- Must have transplant experience specifically with liver transplants.
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
- Call requirement: 40-60 hours of call over a 6-week schedule, including holidays.
- Average daily surgical case volume: 35 cases.
- Operating rooms: 22.
- Special equipment used: DaVinci XI surgical system.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification.
- Additional background screenings within 30 days of start: EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG.
- Official transcript or diploma verifying education.
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months.
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines.
- Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines.
- Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B: Series, titer, or signed declination.
- Tuberculosis test within 1 year (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted).
- TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score.
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually.
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years.
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days.
Additional Information
- Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability.
- Indiana residents will not be eligible to sign new contracts in this specialty at this facility effective March 1, 2026.
- Facility-specific orientation and compliance documents must be completed prior to start.
- Call and holiday coverage are mandatory.
- Candidates must be prepared for a high-volume surgical environment with complex cases.
This position is ideal for experienced Certified Surgical Technologists with specialized liver transplant experience seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity surgical setting.
