Description
Registered Nurse - OR (Surgery Unit)
Location: Bowling Green, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Overview
- Surgery unit with 10 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Unit staffing includes manager, board runner, holding nurse, surgical attendants, anesthesia tech
- Equipment used: Hana bed, DaVinci XI (550 robotic surgeries per year), MAKO, Velys hip & knee systems
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Operating hours: 7:00 AM – 6:30 PM (elective cases)
- Call shifts:
- Weekdays: 2 first call and 2 second call shifts
- Weekends: 1 weekend call per month (48-hour call)
- Call hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (first call), 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM (second call)
- Average surgical cases per day: 25-35
- Work environment described as friendly with advanced technology
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kentucky
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
Procedures Performed on Unit
- Orthopedics (over 1300 total joint surgeries per year)
- General surgery
- Urology
- Gynecology
- ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat)
Scheduling & Policies
- Call required: 1 weekend per month, plus weekday first and second call shifts
- No floating policy applicable
- Unit-specific policies and guidelines apply (not detailed here)
