Registered Nurse (Stepdown Unit) - Morgantown, West Virginia
Job Details
- Specialty: 7W Stepdown (Stepdown & Floor)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Day: 12
- Hours per Week: 48
- Unit Beds: 32 total (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
- Patient Population: Typical MedSurg including Chest Pain, COPD, Altered Mental Status, Pneumonia, UTI, Abdominal Pain, hospice patients (GIP Hospice on 7 West)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
- Stepdown: 1:3
- Floor: 1:4 to 1:6
- Nurse Aides: 4 aides if fully staffed for 32 beds
- Telemetry: Yes, with telemetry monitor techs; RNs must be able to read cardiac strips
- Drip Management: Drips used in Stepdown; Floor uses PCAs, heparin, etc.
- Floating: May be required to float to any floor or stepdown unit
- Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs
- Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per schedule
- Holiday Requirement: Work integrated into permanent staff holiday schedule
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse budgeted per unit; House Supervisor always available
Required Certifications and Licenses
- BLS Certification required
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse license appropriate for West Virginia
Additional Requirements and Notes
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Fully vaccinated required (2 Moderna or Pfizer shots, or 1 J&J shot). Medical or religious exemptions require approved exemption form.
- Driver’s License: Must have an address outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
- Submission Rules:
- Only one submission allowed at a time across the entire system.
- Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years.
- Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after completing at least 1 full year.
- Travel teams must be submitted together.
- Only 2 candidates submitted per opening; additional submissions held until a spot opens.
- Orientation: Unit/department-specific orientation details unknown.
- Call/Standby: Unknown
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry monitoring, drip management in a stepdown setting, and flexible scheduling including nights, weekends, and holidays.
