Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Night Shift)

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Medical Surgical, 32 beds
• Shift: Nights (4 shifts of 12 hours, 18:30–7:00)
• Hours per week: 48 (36 or 48 hour options; anything over 48 hours is overtime)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
• Rapid response team activation required
• No call; floating to like units only
• Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within 6 weeks
• Charting system: Epic
• Unit accepts first-time travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Education verification of highest level completed (transcript/diploma accepted as placeholder if needed)
• Fingerprinting required onsite during orientation (New Mexico placements only)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (fit test done onsite)
• Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, additional documentation required
• Adult Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (no declinations or religious exemptions accepted; medical exemptions require provider approval)
• Immunizations/vaccine status required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/01–03/31); declinations not accepted
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
• Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
• Work history verification for 7 years
• Employment application/resume required

Additional Notes

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Color blind testing required (online version acceptable)
• Core HIPAA and safety training required
• No prior travel experience required; unit accepts first-time travelers
