Description
Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Boone, North Carolina
Shift: Nights, Friday through Sunday, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and well babies.
- Schedule is fixed: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.
- Start date: ASAP.
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or equivalent.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or equivalent.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - required for this role.
Required Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina with primary source verification (NURSYS verification required).
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Labor and Delivery experience of at least 1 year, including experience within the last year
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- NRP certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals.
- Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana, completed within 90 days prior to start and updated annually.
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
- Immunizations or titers required for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; shingles vaccine not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references (hospital evaluations accepted).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and competency exams.
- Passport-style photo for badge (shoulders up, front facing, plain background).
- Completion of self-study orientation and post-test.
- Signed accountability statements and personal data sheet, re-completed if contract breaks occur.
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification not required for this role (specific to Behavioral Health, ER, ICU).
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
