Job Opportunity: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)
Location: Oregon City, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Job Description
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Position does not float between units.
- On-call required: Yes, 100 hours per 4-week schedule period (including weekends).
- Block schedules: Not required.
- Expected nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1.
- Special experience required: BLS certification, orthopedic experience (total joints, sports medicine, trauma), and spine experience.
- 48-hour workweek approval: Not approved.

Required Qualifications
- Must hold current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NBSTSA OR Tech certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Orthopedic and spine surgical experience required.
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required (no mention of prior travel experience).
- Must have a valid government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card as applicable.
- Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually.
- Drug screening within 12 months of start.
- Minimum of 4 years of specialty experience (based on "4Y/TRAVEL EXP" in description).
Certifications (as applicable)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification.
- ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM, Chemotherapy, IV Certification, and others may be required depending on unit and specialty (verify with clinical track).
- Must maintain current certifications as required by the specialty and facility.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Fit mask testing required annually (onsite completion possible).
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID-19 vaccination or declination documentation
Background and Compliance
- Employment application covering at least the last 5 years required.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Education verification required.
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules must be completed via the employer’s LMS system.
- Facility-specific float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to nearby facilities).
- Badge photo required for facility identification.
Additional Notes
- Epic charting system training and transcripts required prior to or shortly after start.
- Oregon-specific background checks and abuse/neglect searches may be required depending on placement.
- Candidates must comply with all state-specific licensing and credentialing requirements.
This position offers a structured day shift with a focus on orthopedic and spine surgical services in a short-term acute care setting. The role requires strong surgical tech experience, certifications, and compliance with comprehensive health and safety standards.
