Description

Registered Nurse - MS/Tele (Night Shift) - Winston Salem, NC

Job Type

  • Travel/Contract assignment
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • 12-hour night shifts (18:45 - 7:15)
  • Options for 36 or 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required; weekend call-offs must be made up on a weekend
  • Block scheduling options available (e.g., Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
  • Maximum 7 days of time off (RTO) allowed; no holiday RTO approved
  • Float requirement: must float to other med-surg units as needed

Unit & Patient Population

  • Fast-paced unit with average daily census of 37 patients
  • Patient types: Orthopedic, Neuro spine, Med-surg, Post-surgical
  • COVID-19 patients are cared for on all units unless in ICU
  • Focus on pain management for ortho and spine patients

Staffing Ratios

  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 5-6:1
  • Can flex up to 7:1 only in extreme cases

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with at least 2 years of Orthopedics experience
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • EKG competency

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Charge nurse experience
  • Level I Trauma experience

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months required
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 6 months required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required; additional documentation if history of positive TB
  • Immunizations/titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Photo ID (passport-style photo on white background) required for badge creation
  • Completion of facility-specific education modules and compliance training mandatory
  • Must complete Non-Novant Health Worker Clinical Education Orientation (approx. 8-10 hours)
  • Must complete Medication Safety training and submit certificate
  • Must complete annual compliance and confidentiality agreements
  • Must complete Corp ID setup and I-Learn login prior to start
  • Physical exam not required for this crisis assignment
  • Color blindness testing required within 1 year
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required with remediation process if failed

  • No Return to Office (RTO) allowed after booking except as specified; excessive call-offs may lead to cancellation
  • Floating to other med-surg units is mandatory based on census needs
  • Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment managing orthopedic and spine patients
  • Must comply with all facility policies and mandatory trainings before and during assignment
