Description
Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Portland, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Expected Patient Ratio: 1:1
Job Description
- Position requires floating between units based on skill set.
- Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience is required.
- Must have Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Vehicle required for assignment due to multiple facility locations in the region.
- No on-call, weekend, or block schedule requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent Pediatric PACU (Post Anesthetic Care) experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid Driver's License.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Immunizations and screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (declination accepted)
- Seasonal Flu vaccine during flu season or declination on file
- COVID-19 vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
- Fit mask testing required for travel assignments, updated annually.
Competencies and Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Epic electronic health record training required.
Additional Information
- Floating policy acknowledgment required; may float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance.
- No weekend or on-call requirements.
- Parking is free at the facility.
- Charting system used: Epic.
- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care with 536 staffed beds.
- Teaching hospital environment.
