Description
Registered Nurse - NICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position floats between units as needed.
- On-call required as agreed upon by RN.
- Weekend shifts required every other weekend.
- Patient ratios vary: 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1.
- Must have 2 years of Level III NICU experience.
- 48-hour shifts are approved.
- Must have a vehicle for assignment.
- Floating to other units and facilities within reasonable distance may be required.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
- Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience, with NICU experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Valid Driver's License
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
- Fit mask test (annual, onsite or valid record within 1 year).
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months; must be updated annually.
- Immunizations or positive titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (or signed declination).
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination.
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted with adherence to masking policies.
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start (instant acceptable).
Background and Verification
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually.
- Education verification required for nursing degree.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years.
- Work history verification may be required if reference requirements are not met.
Competencies and Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists, updated annually.
- Annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Epic charting system training required prior to or shortly after start.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete float policy acknowledgment; may be required to float to other units or facilities within reasonable distance.
- Must have reliable transportation for assignment.
Notes
- Prior travel experience is required for this position.
- Floating between multiple facilities in the region may be necessary.
- All certifications and health documents must be current and verifiable.
- Compliance with all state-specific and facility-specific background checks and screenings is mandatory.
