Registered Nurse (Telemetry) - Travel Position
Location
- Alexandria, Louisiana
Job Type
- Travel assignment
- Full-time
- Shift: Days, 7 AM to 7 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Patient Population
- Cardiac and medical-surgical patients including:
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Arrhythmias
- Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
- Medical-surgical overflow
- Management (not titration) of multiple cardiac drips
Work Environment & Requirements
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 5:1, occasionally 6:1
- Required to float to other units as needed
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
- No on-call duties
- Dress code: Ceil Blue scrubs
Responsibilities
- Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a telemetry setting
- Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
- Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Orientation & Competency
- New experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
- Preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations including MedSurg-specific skills
- Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
- Annual competency verification required
