Description
Registered Nurse – Transplant (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Schedule: Weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
- Float: Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Patient Ratio: Approximately 1 nurse to 5 patients
- Key Skills: IV starts, telemetry monitoring, Epic documentation system
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of transplant nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Compliance & Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
- Education verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start
- Professional references: 2 required, including at least 1 from a manager or formal leadership
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series or signed declination)
- TB testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSPOT within 1 year or chest x-ray if positive
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 – 3/31)
- Fit mask test valid within 1 year of assignment end date (required annually for inpatient/patient-facing roles)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Competency & Training
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exam required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (with remediation process if needed)
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- License verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
Additional Notes
- Dynamic and challenging work environment
- Facility requires compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear before starting; pending results require attestation
