Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Polson, Montana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Facility Type: Critical Access Hospital
Total Beds: 22
Charting System: Epic

Job Description
- Position floats between units as needed.
- On-call required once per pay period (max PRN).
- Weekend work required every other weekend.
- Patient ratios vary: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4, 1:6.
- Special focus on Labor and Delivery Recovery (LDRP).
- Must be proficient in Labor & Delivery, triage, and Postpartum care.
- Recent experience of 3+ years required.
- Position is for seasoned travel nurses only.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Montana
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- 3+ years of total travel nursing experience
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Postpartum nursing experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
Required Documents & Checks
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Background Check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- E-Verify attestation.
- Education Verification (nursing degree verification required).
- NURSYS license verification.
- Employment Application covering at least last 5 years.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- TDAP (within 10 years or declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Drug Screen: 9-panel within 12 months (instant acceptable).
- Respirator Safety Clearance (RespSafety) for travel candidates, medically cleared annually.
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).
- Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology competency and fetal heart rate monitoring assessment or EFM certification.
Additional Requirements
- Must acknowledge and comply with float policy; may be required to float to other nearby facilities.
- On-call and weekend work as specified.
- Must be able to work with Epic electronic health record system.
- Color of scrubs: any color; OR scrubs provided.
- Must meet all state-specific requirements and background checks if applicable.
Work Environment
- Critical Access Hospital with 22 staffed beds.
- Night shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours).
- Patient care ratios vary depending on unit needs.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who have prior travel nursing experience and are comfortable working in a critical access hospital setting with variable patient ratios and floating responsibilities.
