    Description

    Registered Nurse - Emergency Department (Travel Assignment)

    Location: Cortez, Colorado
    Contract Length: 13 weeks
    Employment Type: Travel


    Job Summary

    Provide nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department, ensuring safe, efficient, and courteous care. Demonstrate clinical competence, knowledge of disease processes, and the ability to assess and respond to patient needs across the lifespan. Collaborate with healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes and maintain compliance with policies and standards.


    Required Qualifications

    • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado
    • Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
    • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

    Role Responsibilities

    • Practice within nursing standards and follow all relevant policies, procedures, and accreditation standards.
    • Provide patient-centered care with a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.
    • Maintain knowledge of basic arrhythmia interpretation.
    • Supervise non-professional staff and assist with priority setting and resource support.
    • Assist physicians with patient care, procedures, and rounds.
    • Administer medications according to regulations and policies.
    • Initiate and revise patient care plans based on patient condition and standards.
    • Document nursing care accurately and timely following approved policies.
    • Participate in ongoing education, departmental meetings, and professional development.
    • Adhere to safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards.
    • Demonstrate flexibility with shifts and work hours to meet staffing needs.

    Work Environment & Physical Demands

    • Exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and occasional foul odors.
    • Moderate to occasionally loud noise levels; possible interactions with aggressive patients or visitors.
    • Possible exposure to environmental conditions such as heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.
    • Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, frequent kneeling, crouching, reaching, and repetitive motions.
    • Requires good vision (including color vision), hearing, and verbal communication abilities.
    • Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities without compromising patient care.

    Additional Information

    • Work schedule averages 36 hours per week.
