Job Opportunity: DEXA Technician
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Job Description
- Position for a Bone Density Technologist specializing in DEXA exams.
- Must have current and proficient bone density exam experience (hard stop requirement).
- No floating between units.
- No on-call, weekend, or block schedule requirements.
- Expected patient ratio: 1:1.
- This role is for a DEXA Technologist, not a DEXA Technician.
- No separate DEXA license required; must hold an active ARRT, RT(R) through OBMI.
- No X-ray duties required.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Special Procedures Technologist license in Oregon
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Special Procedures Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Active ARRT certification
- Registered through OBMI
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Radiology Technician experience
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Social Security Card (as applicable).
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually.
- Education verification required.
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years.
- Minimum of 2 professional references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted).
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations not required.
- Drug screening: 9-panel within 12 months.
- Respirator clearance (RespSafety) required for travel candidates starting on or after 2/5/2024.
- Annual completion of required regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp).
- Photo for badge with neutral background required.
Additional Notes
- No on-call, weekend, or block schedule requirements.
- No floating between units.
- Must complete Epic training modules as assigned.
- Facility-specific float policy acknowledgment may be required.
- Compliance with state-specific background and license verification requirements.
- Color blind testing and medication/pharmacology competency exams may be required as applicable.
- Radiation badge issued by facility if applicable.
This position is ideal for a DEXA Technologist with strong, current bone density exam skills seeking a 13-week travel contract in a short-term acute care setting with a consistent day shift schedule.
