Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) - Travel

Location: Morristown, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (AM)
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provide competent nursing care to surgical patients across the perioperative continuum, including pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases. Deliver patient-centered care with a focus on safety, professionalism, and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform thorough, systematic assessments for patients from pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Deliver direct patient care and support the perioperative team in surgical settings.
• Maintain accurate and complete documentation of nursing processes, patient progress, and education.
• Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures relevant to the OR.
• Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including use of two patient identifiers and safe patient transfer techniques.
• Individualize patient care based on surgical procedure, anesthesia type, and patient condition.
• Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and post-operative care.
• Support timely completion and evaluation of Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders.
• Uphold professional standards and confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to perform duties as defined by Occupational Safety standards, including safe body mechanics and patient handling.
