Description
Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical
Location: Winchester, Indiana
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Job Description
- Provide direct nursing care following established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition appropriately.
- Coordinate care among all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
- Execute physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning with the healthcare team.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana.
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Successful completion of Ascension Pharmacology Exam.
- Successful completion of Ascension Medical Surgical Exam.
- Successful completion of Ascension EKG Exam.
- Completion of Ascension Core Competencies.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Valid Driver’s License.
Required Onboarding and Compliance
- Completion of pharmacology and medical-surgical exams with a minimum score of 80%, updated every 3 years.
- Completion of EKG exam with a minimum score of 80%, updated every 3 years.
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics, updated every 3 years.
- Completion of unit-specific checklist (optional but may be required by unit leader).
- Completion of onboarding education attestation and contract worker onboarding process.
- Submission of a forward-facing badge photo with white or blue background (no alterations).
- Documentation of immunizations and health screenings:
- MMR: Proof of two vaccines or positive IGG titer (no declinations accepted).
- Varicella: Proof of two vaccines, immunity, or history verified by healthcare provider (no declinations accepted).
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination.
- Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season).
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual questionnaire required.
- Fit test for respiratory protection, preferably completed prior to start (annual update required).
- Health statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually.
- 12-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 90 days prior to start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Employment and education verifications within 90 days prior to start; updated annually or after breaks in service.
- Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and extensions.
